In an age of Bob Geldof and the G8, this is a night that allows Africa to speak for itself. Tracing the lives and experiences of African people, these animations bring together traditional storytelling and a modern medium. The undeniably powerful shorts depict personal and political tales that are as diverse in their visual style as they are in perspective.
Compelling, shocking and humorous in equal measure, this is a night that promises to dispel myths and engage audiences with a unique body of work produced by both established and emerging artists.
Curated by Paula Callus (Bournemouth University) and Tessa Lewin (Lighthouse), the event premiers work not previously screened outside its country of origin and it is anticipated that the night will not only increase the exposure of these artists but enable collaboration between artists from the UK and worldwide.
This event is presented in association with Lighthouse. http://www.lighthouse.org.uk/
