Widely respected in the jazz world as drummer/composer/leader of The Fellowship Band, Brian Blade and is also known as the drummer for many heroes of the music world, including Daniel Lanois, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Wayne Shorter, Seal, Bill Frisell, and Emmylou Harris.
His undeniably melodic approach is brought to the forefront with the Fellowship Band, a long-running ensemble far more concerned with creativity than studio output. Last April, the sextet released their first record in almost eight years – “Season of Changes”. But that’s not to say they’ve been on sabbatical. On the contrary, the group has maintained a steady schedule of live appearances and fostered a deep level of musical communication that is at once dead-serious, completely relaxed, and refreshingly honest.
