Drop-In Art-Making
Every Sunday from 1-3 PM, families can experience a new adventure in art making free with admission to the Contemporary Jewish Museum. As always, the hands-on fun inspires children to learn more about the exhibitions on display in the galleries.

September 5, 2010: ‘Portrait of an Object’ Rosh Hashanah/New Year’s Cards
Be inspired by the everyday objects that artist Maira Kalman loves so much as you enter the art studio, pick out an object of your desire, and use pencil and gouache to design note cards that celebrate new beginnings. Presented in conjunction with the Museum’s current exhibition Maira Kalman: Various Illuminations (of a Crazy World).

September 12, 2010: ‘Portrait of an Object’ Rosh Hashanah/New Year’s Cards
Be inspired by the everyday objects that artist Maira Kalman loves so much as you enter the art studio, pick out an object of your desire, and use pencil and gouache to design note cards that celebrate new beginnings. September 19, 2010: Buttons and Bits and Bobs, Oh Maira!
As artist Maira Kalman uses the things around her for both inspiration and art-making (she LOVES buttons in particular!), create your own work of art using buttons, bits, bobs, and who knows what else. Presented in conjunction with the Museum’s current exhibition Maira Kalman: Various Illuminations (of a Crazy World).

September 26, 2010: Reinventing Shelter
Inspired by artist Allan Wexler’s “Sukkah” (temporary shelter) on view in the Museum’s Reinventing Ritual exhibition, create your own temporary dwelling art-piece, using materials both traditional and surprising.
