The quest to be different drives the creative mind to come up with a visual language that is a narrative of the self, and one’s identity. G. Gurunathan amply illustrates this in his mixed media works that draw heavily from rural culture. In this series, the artist, who is pursuing MFA in the Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai, explores the dimensions of traditional and popular culture. But, it is not a depthless effort; he explores the subject to establish a style of his own.
