Donna Lurie-SummerlingThis fundamentals class equips students with the tools and information necessary to paint with confidence. Starting with the basics of the acrylics medium, we will learn to paint realistic subjects using still life arrangements and other references. Lessons covered include planning a composition, mixing colors, and creating illusions of space.SuppliesIn this class we use acrylic paints. Please bring a canvas no smaller than 16''x20". You wil need 3 or 4 for the session. You may use canvas board or canvas paper if you prefer. Please bring a pad of palette paper (or wax paper from home) a few rags or an old t-shirt.I also recommend a bottle of acrylic glazing liquid with a satin finish(not glossy). Glazing liquid is used to keep acrylic paints from drying too fast. It keeps the paint workable longer.Recommended PaintsTitanium whiteBurnt UmberBurnt SiennaAlizarin CrimsonCadmium Red LightCadmium Yellow LightYellow OchreSap GreenHookers GreenCobalt BlueUltramarine BlueWe mix our own black.Optional Paints Pthalo BluePthalo GreenCadmium Red MediumMars BlackRaw SiennaRaw UmberBrushesYou will need an assortment of inexpensive (student grade) brushes....rounds, flats, brights and filberts. Art stores sell them in various assortment packs. I recommend synthetic brushes because student grade bristle brushes tend to shed.
