This celebration marks not only a new year but also as a benefit to support the museum?s educational efforts in honor of the 90th birthday of the San Diego Museum of Man. Reflecting the Museum?s diverse representation of world cultures, The Dragon Ball offers two areas of contemporary international music, special art performances, 4 full bars, and a midnight celebration. The outdoor area, in the courtyard at the foot of the 200-foot California Tower, emphasizes music and rhythms of the 'New World' (sounds of Brazil, Central America, Cuba, Panama, and West Indies) with the likes of San Diego?s own Jangada and Super Sonic Samba School.

The Indoor area, under the 100 foot dome of the Museum of Man, showcases electronic music that draws from sounds of the 'Old World' (Africa, Europe, the Middle East and South Asia) starring two very successful international world music producers, Karsh Kale of NYC and Janaka of San Francisco.

This global carnival also features Brazilian ?Fantasia? Samba dancers, surreal Circus performances from Iain Gunn?s Mythologram Theater, and the Middle Eastern fusion of the Urban Tribal Dance Company.
