Ralph Stanley’s voice is not of this century. Nor of the last one for that matter. Preserved in the cultural amber of remote Appalachia, this terse, forlorn sound is the bedrock of Stanley’s wholly unique style. But don’t mistake an ancient voice for ancient ways. Stanley tours and performs with the vigor and elan of a rock star, and over the past six decades has sculpted an unprecedented career that has included a Grammy® Award, a National Medal of Arts, and countless IBMA awards and nominations.

The Seldom Scene remains at the forefront of progressive and traditional bluegrass with tight harmonies, a love affair with melody, and impeccable musicianship. The band is made up of Dudley Connell (guitar), Ben Eldridge (banjo), Lou Reid (mandolin), Fred Travers (Dobro®), and Ronnie Simpkins (bass) – with all members contributing to the vocal sound that earned them a Grammy® nomination for their 2007 release Scenechronized.

Jim Lauderdale is a multi-talented performer and songwriter, with successes in both country and bluegrass music. His roots stem from the Carolinas, yet his career has taken him all over the United States and abroad, making him an international recording artist with an ever-growing fan base. Lauderdale won Artist of the Year and Song of the Year at the first Honors and Awards Show held by the Americana Music Association in 2002.
