In addition to his singular contributions to American music, Miles Davis is also responsible for convincing Eddie Henderson to become a professional jazz musician. It was Miles who gave Dr. Eddie the early trumpet lessons and ongoing encouragement that left an unmistakable influence on his music. Like Miles, Henderson can say more with one note than most can in an entire chorus. For this weekend, Henderson will revisit the music of his old mentor in the company of his expressive acoustic quintet that includes saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, pianist Kevin Hays, bassist Doug Weiss, and drummer Billy Drummond.
