Dr. Deborah Lipstadt, Emory University
Speaks about her latest book,
"The Eichmann Trial," National Jewish Book Award Finalist!
Monday, January 23rd | 7:30pm
APJCC Auditorium, 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos, CA

For the Eichmann trial's 50th anniversary, Dr. Deborah Lipstadt trains her gaze on this watershed event in Jewish history. Israeli attorney general Gideon Hausner, a commercial lawyer, lacked criminal or courtroom expertise, but Lipstadt contends that despite a couple of courtroom blunders, Hausner presented overwhelming incriminating evidence to prove that Eichmann's claim that he was just a low-level bureaucrat was a lie. Lipstadt presents a penetrating and authoritative dissection of a landmark case and its after effects.

Dr. Deborah E. Lipstadt is Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies at Emory University in Atlanta. She is the author of History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier, Denying the Holocaust: the Growing Assault on Truth and Memory, and Beyond Belief: the American Press and the Coming of the Holocaust. Lipstadt was also a historical consultant to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, was appointed by President Clinton to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council on which she served two terms.
