Or to give it it’s full title Dr Strangelove; Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the Bomb stars the fabulous Peter Sellers in three different roles and was directed by Stanley Kubrick. Made in 1964 when nuclear arms development was at its most volatile, Dr. Strangelove is a bitter comedy about the end of the world and how it comes about through the paranoia of insane general and his nuclear bombers. As is always the case with Kubrick’s films, the film is a political critique, a satire on technological progress and human stupidity. It also presents a bleak image of a communist future and, as well as being hugely funny, it is disturbing, thought provoking and disarming.
