Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays featuring Shellac and Shearwater August 10, 2009

Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays is a unique series bringing some the freshest “news making” artists and groundbreaking rock veterans to the world renowned Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Each concert will be emceed by a talented performer from the innovative organization Young Chicago Authors.

Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays is part of a collection of three new Monday series in Millennium Park, which also includes Dusk Variations: A Chamber Series at noon and Edible Audible Picnic on Monday evenings, expanding the repertoire of music at Millennium Park.

This week featuring Shellac and Shearwater
Chicago's legendary minimalist rock trio Shellac, recently added to the Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays line-up to replace originally scheduled Rokia Traore, performs at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion for the very first time.

Texan quartet Shearwater opens for Shellac bringing their unusual instrumentation and oddly disquieting art-rock songs to the Jay Pritzker Pavilion.
