wow. ...maybe 200 people stayed for the last act. Gang of four had maybe 1500.
Jesus Mary Chain was aweful. Terrible sound mix and no energy on stage. Cool songs but they were a million miles away.
Brand New was very good but after they left and gang of four did their 50 minutes the last two "headliners" proceeded to stink up the now freezing SL Ampatheater until no one was left.
20.00 tickets were wonderful but 11.00$ beers and 19.00 cocktails, (for a double) sorta make the village scene there a rip off.

I got free tickets to this show, and decided to check it out, and
fatz, is so right.
The people working in the parking lot said that maybe 5,000 people were there the entire day, tops. But, there's no way it was that much. The numbers were so low, in fact, i felt bad for the bands and the venue. There was such an odd feel to the whole thing, I've been to quite a few shows at Shoreline, and none of them were as odd and with such a tiny crowd as this one..
They had this actual "garage band" area where anyone could pick up an instrument put on your own show, choose your own song, and pretty much say whatever. it was a novelty idea, that was quite entertaining at times.
The booths there, were lacking, very few, i expected more technological interaction, seeing it was called the "download" festival.
As for the bands,
Mutemath did a good job, they were entertaining at least , unlike most of the other bands.
Louis XIV seemed to have a good fan base there, but were put on a tiny stage. Playing longer than their 30 minute set, and coming back for 2 encore songs. They made the whole night worth it for me.
Sadly, Brand New was on at the same time, and i didnt get to hear them.
Gang of Four was just so odd, it was worth watching even if their music was unknown to you. Their incredibly loud sound, flashy lights, and choice of instruments and other things to make noise with added flair and made it interesting. The show should have ended after them.
You could tell The Jesus and Mary Chain was having a lot of sound difficulties, the Orange amps and other equipment were failing and a lot of tech work had to be done. I left near the end of their set, it was freezing cold outside, and as sad as i am to say it, it felt like it wasn't worth it anymore.

Does anyone know if Mutemath will be signing autographs? Saw them in Reno with MB20 and bought their CD. They are awsome - I'm driving for hours just to see them again!
