"An American Journey," a musical performance by the Downers Grove Choral Society (DGCS), will be presented at the Tivoli Theatre, located at 5021 Highland Avenue, on Sunday April 25, 2010 at 3 PM. The concert will include Broadway arrangements, Big Band Standards, and Patriotic songs, featuring acclaimed tenor soloist Marc Stingley as well as a Big Band Ensemble and guest chorus, the Don Fang Chinese Performing Chorus. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $5 for students.
Mr. Stingley is highly regarded for his outstanding musical background. He received his Bachelor of Music Degree at the University of Kansas and worked on his Masters Diploma at both the St. Louis Conservatory of Music and Hochschule für Musik in Vienna, Austria. His accolades include performances with the Aspen Opera Theater Center, Lake George Opera Festival, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Knoxville Civic Opera, Mississippi Opera, Chicago Opera as well as many orchestras and choral groups throughout the Midwest. Additionally, he is well known as the Chicago Bulls National Anthem soloist.
The DGCS, now in its 51st season singing in Downers Grove, is an impressive 55-member chorus. The music selected for "An American Journey" is a departure from the classical composers for whom the chorus has earned its reputation. This unique musical performance is guaranteed to delight the senses.
