Strawberry’s Sports Grill and The Douglaston Chamber of Commerce present “Douglaston Community Day,” hosted by New York Mets and Yankees legend Darryl Strawberry, in celebration of the one year anniversary of Strawberry’s Sports Grill located in Douglaston, Queens on Saturday August 13th 2011 from 11AM-4PM. Yankees and Mets legends will also be in attendance. All proceeds from this event will go to support the Darryl Strawberry Foundation against Autism as well as local charities and little league organizations.
Vehicle access to 235th street will be blocked with access only to pedestrians for the day’s festivities located on the street in front of Strawberry’s Sports Grill. Free parking will be available at surrounding churches.
Join the community for a day of great food provided by Strawberry’s Sports Grill including burgers, hot dogs, sausages, BBQ ribs, iced tea, and lemonade.
The Coors Light Girls and a live DJ will provide entertainment. Modell’s Sporting Goods will provide family fun activities including batting cages, pitching speed radar guns, and miniature basketball hoops. A Dunk tank and bounce house will be set up on the street. Raffles and contests will occur every half hour with prizes including Mets tickets, memorabilia, gift cards, and more. Mr. Met will also be at the event giving away Mets tickets.
Select vendors representing business in the community will also be present. Generous media sponsors include the Queens Courier and The Daily News. This event is also sponsored by the New York Mets. Darryl Strawberry will be holding a press tour to promote the event one-week prior with ESPN Radio 1050.
