Double Duet
April 19, 2009 1pm and 5pm

Boston, MA—The Boston Conservatory Dance Division presents Double Duet, Sunday, April 19th at 1pm and 5pm at The Boston Conservatory Theater. Double Duet will feature four stimulating, original works by senior dance majors Adrianna Dougherty and Christy Williams. Each choreographer will show a short duet playfully set to music by Kings of Leon and The Smiths and a larger group piece in a concert filed with variety, energy, physicality and emotion that should not be missed.

Accompanied by live, driving music of Apocalyptica, Dougherty’s work for five dancers explores nostalgia for the past, the monotony of the present and the uncertainty of the future. Inspired by music and personal situations, Dougherty creates works with provocative concepts and innovative movements. She passionately believes that art should be an escape not only for the performer; but for the audience as well.

Intricately assembling a collage of music as well as dancers, Williams explores our inherent, yet grotesque, habits as they exist within our society. An inveterate dance maker, Williams is the 2008-09 recipient of the Julie Thompson Choreography Scholarship from The Boston Conservatory. Williams’ well-crafted oddball movement continually leaves her audience on edge and wanting more.

Both Dougherty and Williams have choreographed two other original works for The Boston Conservatory’s annual Spring Works Choreography Concert. In addition to choreographing and producing Double Duet, they will each be performing in it.
