On WEDNESDAY, 2ND NOVEMBER at 7.30 PM at CoCA (http://www.cocaseattle.org), experience an evening of TECHNICOLOUR TIMEKEEPING and INDOOR RADAR as the first real meeting of our new dorkbot season celebrates two STRANGE CREATIONS and some COLOUR SCIENCE. From Seattle, independent software developer, hardware geek and creator of the Miles Sound System for computer games, JOHN MILES, talks about how he came to build the WORLD?S GNARLIEST CLOCK RADIO ? and why, including the NIXIE TUBES. Also from Seattle, dorkbot 05 veteran presenter (remember LASER SPACEWARS?) and soon-to-be Central Scrutinizer STEVE SAFARIK describes his latest creation: ROOM SONAR. And also from? Seattle, electronics/optics design engineer, dork since 2003 and tech-art collaborator CHUCK HARRISON, gives us a grounding in COLOUR SCIENCE and invites you to bring your favourite LUMINOUS or COLOURED OBJECTS to face his MIGHTY SPECTROPHOTOMETER!!! In addition, longtime dorkboteer MARS SAXMAN?s RAVE-O-MATIC will be providing a mobile sound and light extravaganza before and after the presentations ? and will be starring at this month?s OPEN DORK. If you have a project to discuss, or a Kinetic Sculpture Race or Robothon story to tell, let me know now or at the meeting and your own OPEN DORK microphone spot will be guaranteed. As always, ADMISSION IS FREE and the event is ALL AGES, though a donation to CoCA ? who are financially in some serious need ? is strongly encouraged. There will be cocktails! There will be conversation! There will be three outstanding presentations and the Rave-O-Matic! To give us an idea of how much beer to buy, please RSVP (to dorkbotsea AT dorkbot (dot) org). Bring your work in progress, bring your friends (all of them!), and we?ll see you on the 2nd.
