At 1325 serving personnel, veterans and cadets will march from North Square led by Wessex Military Band and followed by WWII vehicles. The march will end in the Borough Gardens where there will be an open air Civic Service at 1400 with the Mayor of Dorchester presenting veterans badges at 1430. This will be followed at 1440 by music from the bandstand in the Borough Gardens with 1940s and other suitable music provided by Wessex Military Band and the Dorchester Big Band. At 1520, between the two band performances, there will be a display of cannon and musket firing by the Nothe Fort Artillery Volunteers. There will be stalls in the Gardens promoting the RNA, RBL, SSAFA etc showing how they support veterans. A stall will be manned by a local historian who will cover Dorchester’s contribution to WWI and WWII. We are in the process of discussing a schools project with the Dorset Area Schools partnership. The Town Crier will act as master of ceremonies on the day.
