Doodle 4 Google Organizes On-Line Hangout to Talk Art and Education on Google+ Page February 13, 2013

This year’s Doodle 4 Google contest is already underway and Google is inviting you to join members of the Doodle 4 Google team for a fun and interactive discussion on art and education on the Google+ page on Wednesday, February 13th at 4:00pm EST. Author and illustrator of the Amulet series and Doodle 4 Google judge Kazu Kibuishi joins Discovery Education's Steve Dembo and members of the Discovery Educator Network for a hangout on-air discussing the importance of arts in education and the Doodle 4 Google student art and scholarship competition.

For those who have questions about art in the classroom, teaching art, or anything involving art and education, the Discovery Education moderator along with key educators will be talking about the overall theme around the intersection of art/creativity/technology in the classroom which will lead into the Doodle 4 Google discussion.

The Doodle 4 Google program is in its 6th year and has served as an inspirational contest to students in grades K-12 across the country to use their artistic talents to think big and redesign Google’s homepage logo for millions to see. This year’s theme -- “My Best Day Ever…” -- encourage students to harness their curiosity to imagine the past, present, or future on Google’s homepage.
This year’s winner will not only have their doodle on Google.com for millions of people to see, but will also receive a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology grant for his/her school. The contest runs from January 15th through March 22nd, 2013.
