The Williamsburg Library Theatre is the place to be if you want to hear good music next weekend. World-renowned New Orleans jazz saxophonist Donald Harrison will be featured in an evening of jazz as part of the College of William and Mary's Ewell Concert Series. Also performing are pianist Harris Simon, Terry Burrell on bass and Billy Williams, Jr., drums. The quartet will perform jazz standards as well as original compositions by Harrison and Simon. Call 221-1082 for more information. The concert is being held in conjunction with Williamsburg Regional Library's "Looking At: Jazz," a free, video discussion series that explores the cultural and social history of jazz as it developed as an art form in the United States. For more information on the series, visit http://www.lookingatjazz.com or call (757) 259-4070. Looking At: Jazz is a project of Re:New Media in partnership with the American Library Association and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Local program support is provided by the Music Department of the College of William and Mary, WHRV-FM (89.5), and Friends of Williamsburg Regional Library.

I plan to attend and I hope four of my Hampton University students who are curious about the event can find a find ride and also attend.
I first saw Harrison perform in 1980 with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. One of those adolecesent Messengers was a little-known trumpet player, Wynton Marsalis. His debut album was released few months later.
