Dominance and Affection: New Work by Bethany Krull January 9, 2011

As part of the Burchfield Penney's biennial 'Art in Craft Media' exhibition funded by the Sylvia L. Rosen Endowment, the Langley H. Kenzie Award was developed to recognize an outstanding artist from the juried exhibition with a solo show honoring Mrs. Kenzie's dedication as an artist in the craft medium. The work of artist Bethany Krull is a playful examination of our relationship to creatures in our world our pets. Dominance and Affection looks at the complexity of how we care for these pets with love and restraint, in cages but with elaborate seemingly human comfort. This approach allows us to think about the complexity of all things in our lives we consider dear, our friends, partners and possessions.
