A group of three organizations have partnered together to hold one big fund raising event on May 31, 2009, Sunday at Northwest Park in Windsor, CT. The three groups are the First Town 4-H Service Club, Windsor Dog Park Association, and Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue Corp. Separately, the three organizations have missions to help children expand their knowledge in the area of animal care, assist individuals with special needs, save animals in need, or improve the community.
The First Town 4-H Service Club is in need of funds for the purpose of training a new service dog. Having successfully placed our first Chance, our clubs are now moving forward with the fostering and professional training of the next one in line. We hope to place Chance III with a disabled recipient by the end of 2009. It costs approximately $15,000 to train and place a service dog. Sunshine Golden Retriever Rescue Corp, a 501C3, rescues hundreds of displaced golden retrievers in need of homes and medical attention annually. The Windsor Dog Park Association has recently received approval to build a dog park in the town to benefit all dog owners. All profits from the dog walk will go towards the three organizations.
You can help by attending the 5K Cross Country Race at the Northwest Park in Windsor! Registration forms can be found at www.dogwalk.org. Bring in pledges and help us raise funds for these wonderful causes. Then stay and enjoy the fair and shop among the craft and artists. This is our clubs’ largest community service project to date and we truly appreciate your support.
