Good Grief! Wonder whatever happened to your beloved “Peanuts gang”?
North Hollywood, CA – So here you are, deep into your acne phase in a play about your teenage years, and guess what? Your misery isn't all that delightful anymore. A pyro ex-girlfriend, a stoner best-friend, a confused goth sister, a duo of drunk mean girls, a homophobic germaphobe, and a bullied pianist, engulfs “CB” in this hilarious yet dark comedy, and along the way takes him on a journey through self-discovery and peace of mind.
“Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead”, presented at the Secret Rose Theatre in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood in July and August 2009, follows the Peanuts gang in their high school years, addressing the dramas and angst of their adolescence. In that celebration of childhood neuroses known as "Peanuts," you and the other kids flaunted your insecurities openly while swinging from the monkey bars.
With new revisions by playwright Bert V. Royal who re-imagines these ingenious characters that contradict their younger comic-strip selves and places them in a world full of controversy. Violence, sexual identity, drugs, and even suicide; “Dog Sees God” will take both teen and adult audience members to a world that they know all too well, and asks the question: “Is there afterlife after high school”?
“Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead” opens on Friday July 17 and runs on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM, Sunday evenings at 6 PM, through August 23.
