In honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month, the Jewish Family & Children’s Service Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP) will host Rabbi Dr. Joseph S. Ozarowski on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Richmond Heights Community Center. Rabbi Ozarowski, the Rabbinic Chaplain to the Jewish Healing Network of Chicago, will speak on “Does sparing the rod spoil the child? Jewish approaches to interacting with children.” The program is free and open to parents, caregivers, social workers, clergy, teachers and other concerned community members.
CAPP hopes to raise awareness of the problem of child abuse throughout the Jewish and general community. Additionally, it will increase knowledge of preventative measures everyone can take to decrease child abuse, provide an opportunity for social workers and professionals who work with children to gain professional development hours, and relate the concept of child abuse to the Torah and Jewish values.
The Richmond Heights Community Center, also known as “The Heights,” is located at 8001 Dale Avenue, at the corner of Interstate 40 and Eager Roads.
