U.S. premiere! A story of refuge, integration, and regeneration, The Chosen Island explores the history of Sephardim in Cuba and how they have become an indelible part of the country’s social fabric.

Through interviews with members of the Cuban Sephardic Jewish community, viewers experience the rediscovery and revival of Jewish life and listen in as the film raises questions about faith, resilience, strength, and survival. Scripted by Maritza Corrales Capestany and directed by Yassel Iglesias. A Q&A with the director follows the screening. (Cuba, 2012, 60 min. In Spanish with English subtitles.)
