The digital age gives documentary photographers and photojournalists extraordinary new ways to tell stories with greater authorship and control. With editorial photography changing so dramatically, there has never been a greater need to put a personal stamp on one's work.
This two-day workshop will allow you to share your work in an intimate setting and learn how to create a personal documentary project for publication, books, exhibitions and websites. There will be an emphasis on helping students develop their personal vision and unique styles with the ultimate goal of finding a subject you are passionate about, documenting it in a compelling and unique visual style, and disseminating the work effectively to change people's minds and help write history.
Drawing on his own personal projects and experience, Kashi will show you how to develop an idea, find funding, attain access, determine goals, and most importantly, how to get your work seen including suggestions for specific venues to approach. Participants will consider the full range of opportunities available to artists, including still photography, multimedia, and short films.
