Dana's work explores the tiny things that have a big impact. Nature is filled with tiny: tiny creatures digging in the dirt, tiny moments in time that can change your life, a tiny gesture that stays in your heart forever.

While science gives us the mechanism of memory, nature gives us the desire to hold certain memories close… and all too often, the desire to forget. The works in this series—all with titles from articles in Science magazine—ask questions about the process of memory and how our nature shapes our memories and experiences over time. Drawing with thread, Dana spotlights the search for real connections to others and the drive for every creature to find its place in the world.

Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dana earned her bachelor’s degree from the American College for Applied Arts in 1995. She currently lives in San Francisco with her cat, Tallulah, and dreams of a houseful of dogs. This is her first show at Doe-SF.
