Dixon Place will host the X-YU Festival, curated and produced by Ivan Talijancic from WaxFactory. The festival will begin at 7:00pm on May 26th, 27th, and 28th, and at 5pm, on Saturday, May 29th. The festival will include the American premieres of three inter-disciplinary dance pieces created by genre-bending choreographers Maja Delak, Matija Ferlin and Dalija Aćin. As described by curator Ivan Talijancic, X-YU was created to give American audiences a taste of the innovative work emerging from this European region: “these choreographers have been pushing disciplinary boundaries to expand the definition of dance”.
The X-YU Festival is the result of a partnership between WaxFactory, Dixon Place and Dance New Amsterdam. The choreographers and their works will be featured for the first time in the United States through this exciting cultural exchange. All performances take place at Dixon Place in rotating repertory; or all three pieces can be seen on Saturday, May 29.
