On March 12th at 7:30pm, the Dixon Place proudly presents the world premiere of Annette, a Dixon Place Mondo Cane Commission choreographed by Regina Nejman. This multi-dimensional piece will run for three weeks Friday and Saturday only beginning on March 12.

The acclaimed Mondo Cane series allows Dixon Place to support artists by providing them with 1-3 months of workshop time, plus a month-long run of performances where they can get audience feedback and continue the work's development. Each year, six to seven artists or groups are commissioned for this series, more than half of whom represent minority perspectives. Artists invited to submit for commission are usually those with whom Dixon Place has established an existing relationship through previous work in a series or the performance works-in-progress.

Inspired by Nejman’s own experiences teaching in a psychiatric outpatient program, the work follows Annette and Oliver, two fragmented characters, as they struggle for survival and understanding in this multi-media dance piece. Methodical and meditative movements combined with a deconstructed soundscape will fill the stage creating a dream-like environment and a search for balance accented throughout by a sense of humor.
