On the occasion of its 40th anniversary season, Toronto Dance Theatre presents the world premiere of Dis/(sol/ve)r, a major new work by Christopher House, and a co-production with Canada's National Arts Centre. Like all of House’s recent work, Dis/(sol/ve)r challenges the interpretive skills of his remarkable company of dancers. This new creation examines the ephemeral nature of joy. Spiraling bodies, dissolving lovers, unexpected ambushes and garlands of linked dancers perform a provocative mystery play. This new work is a collaboration between House and Dora-winning composer Phil Strong. The original score, featuring soaring melodies and urgent harmonies, is gothic in tone. It is scored for a variety of unusual instruments including nickelharpa, hurdygurdy, harmonium, tri-flute and percussion. Christopher House’s new creation comes to the Fleck Dance Theatre (formerly Premiere Dance Theatre) from November 18 to November 22. For tickets call 416-973-4000.
