El Dorado Musical Theatre presents Disney’s Broadway Classic Beauty and the Beast. The show, with music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and book by Linda Woolverton, is the eighth longest running show in Broadway history. EDMT’s production is directed and choreographed by Elly Award winner Debbie Wilson, and vocally directed by Elly Award Winner Jennifer Martin.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a story full of romance and adventure as well as love and forgiveness. Belle, a young woman yearning for something more than the simple life to which she’s been born, hopes to broaden her horizon beyond the small, isolated French village she calls home. She finds her way to a dark far away castle, inhabited by a beast who, though he had all the chances to live and learn and love, sacrificed his happiness in a moment of selfishness. He yearns for his life that could have been. The paths of these two conflicted souls cross, and as the magic of their stories unfold (aided by an array of charming household objects come to life), the beauty and the beast discover how to live and love in ways they had not expected.
