Ganesha, the so-called "Elephant God," is one of the most adored and widely worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. In a series of stunning photographs, New York-based artist Shana Dressler investigates contemporary Ganesha festivals in Mumbai. Juxtaposed with classical representations of Ganesha from Pacific Asia Museum's collection, Dressler's vibrant photos connect the past and the present of India while illustrating the historical legacy and spiritual signifi cance of Ganesha in Hindu society.
