Dia de los Muertos is a family-centered celebration in Mexico and Central America that honors and remembers deceased loved ones. During this time, families clean and decorate the gravesites, construct ofrendas, join together for feasting, and create artistic representations of the dead. By recognizing death as part of life, and laughing at it, this festival strengthens family and community ties.
