Join Lonely Planet author Molly Green as she talks about traveling to Brazil. Whether you have a trip to Brazil in the works or just a case of wanderlust, Molly will give you ideas and inspiration by telling you about her favorite places, letting you in on some hidden gems, and suggesting some itineraries. She will cover the practicalities (weather, money, transportation) and can also answer specific questions that you may have.
In the same year, both Ilê Ayê and Olodum rocked Molly's home town of Santa Cruz, California with Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and the victorious Brazilian World Cup team spurred spontaneous street parties, inspiring her to learn to samba and embark on a nine-week tour of Brazil. An obsession was born, which led to an intensive study of Brazilian dance, an impressive collection of axé music, university-level studies in Brazilian Portuguese and literature, and further hours on Brazil's freezing buses and sweaty beaches.
Molly is one of the co-authors of Lonely Planet's Brazil. While researching it, she broadened her repertoire of lambada moves and learned what to do when the drive shaft drops out the bottom of a 4WD in remote Piauí. Molly has lived with local families and studied in Argentina and Venezuela, surfed in Mexico, eaten chicken-foot soup in Guatemala, fainted from altitude in Peru, lived out of a van in Australia and been robbed by monkeys in Indonesia.
