Designing and Implementing Effective Zoning Ordinances March 17, 2011

Zoning ordinances are the blueprints for urban development. This seminar addresses the many challenges of revising ordinances into more defensible and effective tools for implementing community goals. Principles, methodologies, and creative ideas for redesigning and updating city and county zoning ordinances are presented and discussed. Topics include form-based codes, design guidelines, content-neutral sign ordinances, and incorporating new urbanist and smart-growth principles into zoning ordinances.
