Searching for the perfect hat to complement to your raceday outfit or a unique headpiece for your next special occasion? Working from a pre-made base, milliner Louise Maloney will show you how to trim your own small button beret or disk shape. Students will learn how to create their own unique trim from a variety of traditional millinery materials such as feathers, veiling, lace and ribbon. A selection of materials will be available for purchase in class or students can bring along their own. The bases provided will be made from sinamay (a lightweight, straw-like fabric) in a variety of colours. Students who would like to match their headpiece to a particular outfit are encouraged to bring their ensemble along to class. Students are also encouraged to bring a basic sewing kit including a pair of fabric scissors, tape measure and thimble. Be inspired and let your imagination run wild in this fun and creative class.
