The Michigan Democratic Party (MDP) will endorse candidates for the statewide positions of Attorney General and Secretary of State at it's first, historic, Endorsement Convention, to be held on Saturday April 17th, in Detroit.
Currently there are two announced candidates for each position: Richard Bernstein and David Leyton, for Attorney General; Jocelyn Benson and Janice Winfrey for Secretary of State.
To vote at this Endorsement Convention you must be a formal member of the Michigan Democratic Party, with a valid up-to-date membership as of March 19, 2010. (Exceptions are elected precinct delegates and Democratic nominees for county and state offices, who may renew membership on the day of the convention.)
Therefore: join or renew your MDP membership now, this week!
To renew or join online, go to: www.michigandems.com, or to www.washtenawdems.org. On either page look for and click on the red button "Join the MDP". You can pay online or print out a form that you can mail in. Basic membership is $20, and students and retirees are $10.
If you are not sure of your current status, contact WCDP Vice-Chair for Membership, Doug Kelley, at Kelleyvill@comcast.net. Doug can also assist you with a membership form if you prefer to pay by check and submit your application by mail.
The minimum age for MDP membership has recently been changed to 16, so consider all in your family!
