Antiques and Design Combine at the DBHS Fifteenth Annual Antiques Show & Sale
Designers Carleton Varney, Nancy Corzine and Mario Nievera to Highlight Event

The Delray Beach Historical Society (DBHS) welcomes internationally-known interior designer Carleton Varney and design entrepreneur Nancy Corzine as speakers for its Fifteenth Annual Antiques Show & Sale, to be held February 21 24, 2008 at the Delray Beach Community Center, 50 Northwest First Avenue.

Varney is president of Dorothy Draper & Co., Inc. (New York), the oldest established. design firm in the U.S., named after one of the doyennes of interior design from the 1920s to the 1960s. Draper was honored by the Museum of the City of New York in a retrospective exhibition of her work that will be on display at the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale from Feb. 3-June 23, 2008. Varneys resume, which features the restoration The Breakers Palm Beach, will soon include decorating the Green Room for the 2008 Academy Awards on Feb. 24 in Los Angeles, CA.

Following tradition, the Gala Private Preview Party will be held Thursday night by hostesses Chrissy Hubiak and Show & Sale Co-Chair Deborah Sargeant. The party will be held inside a decorated tent designed by Palm Beachs own Mario Nievera.

New for this year, DBHS has added a Friday evening Trends, Taste & Traditions party, featuring local designer Victoria Amory. The DBHS Fifteenth Annual Antiques Show & Sale will be produced by Armacost Antiques Shows, LTD. Sponsors to date include the Corcoran Group, Gateway Insurance, Mr. & Mrs. Robert W. Ganger, Mellon Bank, The Colony Hotel & Cabana Club, Aker Kasten Eye Center, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Mulry, and Northern Trust. Proceeds from the Show & Sale will underwrite the costs of the ongoing renovations of the Hunt House, which will include a permanent, hurricane-proof repository for the complete archives.

The Delray Beach Historical Society was founded in 1964 to preserve local traditions and provide opportunities for the community to learn about Florida's heritage.
