Gardeners will have the chance to show off their efforts in the 2009 Delaware County Gardening Contest sponsored by Penn State Urban and Master Gardeners. All county residents are eligible; there is no entry fee. Deadline for entries is Friday, July 24.

Categories this year are small vegetable gardens and large vegetable gardens; small ornamental gardens and large ornamental gardens; gardens created by those under 18 years of age, community gardens and neighborhood beautification projects.
Judging days are Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 3 and 4. There is no rain date. Gardeners do not need to be present.
Extra points will be given for imagination, ingenuity and favorable environmental impact. Everyone will receive some feedback the days the judges visit.
Winners will be notified by mail and invited to participate in the Master Gardeners’ Fall Fest in Smedley Park Saturday 26 where certificates and ribbons will be awarded.
