Death Cab for Cutie's front man, Ben Gibbard, can be considered one of today's greatest lyricists. After releasing their fifth album and making a jump into the mainstream by signing with a major label, the groups' lyrics remain as insightful and the instrumentals as penetrating as ever before. Transatanticism(2003) is about youthful romance, and for the first time, that falling out of love. As the band matures, the contents of their album Plans(2005) shifts to the concerns regarding the brevity of life and the unknowns of death. With Chris Walla on guitar and producing, Nick Harmer on bass, Jason McGerr on drums, and, of course Ben Gibbard on guitar and supplying the lead vocals, Death Cab for Cutie puts on a show that anyone that has experienced the ordeals of growing up and aging cannot miss.
