Death and the Powers: the Robots' Opera March 25, 2011

'Death and the Powers' is a musically and technologically visionary new opera composed by Tod Machover and developed at the MIT Media Lab. This one-act, full evening work tells the story of Simon Powers, a powerful businessman and inventor, who wants to go beyond the bounds of humanity. Reaching the end of his life, his last experiment is to pass his corporeal presence into The System where he can be free of death. His family must come to terms with his decision, and ultimately decide whether to follow him.
