WHAT: Johnathan Breitung Salon & Luxury Spa invites Chicagoans to de-stress before the holidays with their new cupping massage, a form of deep tissue massage which is one of the oldest methods of traditional Chinese healing. Cupping softens tight muscles, loosens tissue adhesions, brings in hydration and blood flow to the tissue, and drains excess fluid and toxins by opening up the lymphatic pathways. The treatment begins with oil being applied to the skin to aide in sliding the cup, followed by applying the cups with a slight suction. The cups may be left stationary for a short time or moved around in a massage motion for a more intense therapy.
Besides loosening muscles and increasing blood circulation, many believe that cupping can help treat such things as colds, headaches and stress related anxiety. The holiday season is around the corner, so before the chaos begins treat yourself to this unique massage service.
