The District Department of Transportation will host a public meeting on Wednesday evening, July 20 to discuss the proposed Union Station Bike Station. The Bike Station is a public/private venture that will provide bicycle parking, rentals, repairs and accessories in a small, new pavilion at the west end of Union Station (near the current bicycle parking). At the meeting, DDOT staff and consultants will describe the project and take questions and comments. For information on similar, existing facilities, see www.bikestation.org. We will also he holding a focus group meeting with companies/organizations interested in operating the Bike Station. At this meeting we hope to get more refined input on design and operation from an operators perspective. The meeting will be Thursday morning, July 21 at 10:00am. Facilitating the meeting with be Andréa White of the Bikestation Coalition in California, the group that runs several bike stations on the west coast.
