Mapletree commissions world-renowned
urban artist Daze to create artwork at VivoCity
This February, visitors to VivoCity can catch a part of New York Street Culture live in action as celebrated Graffiti Artist Daze creates an iconic piece of artwork, specially commissioned for VivoCity, by its developer Mapletree. From 20 to 24 February 2010, Daze will be at VivoCity’s amphitheatre to create a mural that will be permanently installed at the Sentosa Concourse on Level 3 of VivoCity. This will be Daze's first artwork on display in Singapore.
VivoCity is honoured to be able to showcase Daze’s amazing artwork in Singapore. Mr Chang Yeng Cheong, General Manager of VivoCity said: "VivoCity has always embraced art as an integral part of the total lifestyle experience we bring to visitors. Through this uniquely-designed mural by world-renowned artist, Daze, we are pleased to introduce another art form – the highly expressive urban art to all visitors. This is in line with our philosophy of positioning VivoCity as a vibrant, living showcase for art."
VivoCity is already home to an international collection of artwork, permanently installed as part of the Singapore Biennale 2006. Designed to surprise, excite and delight visitors, while complementing the multi-dimensional nature of VivoCity, these include the Snowman - an extremely tall and skinny snowman overlooking the Promenade; Flower Tree - a six-metre spherical bouquet of colourful flowers and Vivo Punch - a series of colourful man-like figures in various energetic action poses.
VivoCity looks forward to welcoming you this February as Daze brings urban street culture to life at Singapore’s largest retail and lifestyle destination.
