Day of the Dead Nichos with Rikki Mitman October 21, 2010

Decorative works for Day of the Dead include ofrendas, or tables of offering; retablos, small paintings that venerate various saints; and nichos, small commemorative shrines created within boxes. In this class, you will learn to prepare and decorate a cigar box, then add your memorabilia to create a very personal work in memory of a deceased loved one or historical figure. Bring photos, small trinkets, locks of hair, and other personal items to include in your nicho. Other materials provided. No previous art experience is necessary; appropriate for adults of all levels. $35 plus $15 for materials.
