Meet at: visitor center. Why did Lewis David de Schweinitz travel from 18th century Salem to the area that was to become Hanging Park State Park? Hint: it was way more than to find an unusual sunflower. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and join us for a hike and discover why. We will hike portions of the Lake, Chestnut Oak, Magnolia Spring, and Cooks Wall Trails. These trails will give you an idea of how important our state parks are in preserving North Carolina's natural heritage as well as preserving a place of peace and solitude. Contact Henry Fansler for details at 336-473-0283 or hbjfansler@windstream.net. Meet at visitor center. 5 mile hike.
