David Suzuki to speak on peace
at University of Calgary
Environmentalist addresses sustainability as a path to peace

Calgary, AB. The International Peace Research Association (IPRA) is pleased to host
Dr. David Suzuki at MacEwan Hall on the University of Calgary campus at 7 p.m.
on Wednesday, November 23, 2005. His talk is the first of the ?Patterns of Conflict,
Paths to Peace? Speaker Series and Conference. Dr. Suzuki will discuss the
relationship between peace and a healthy environment in a way that is meaningful to a
wide audience.

IPRA was formed after the Second World War, and has become an internationally
respected academic organization. The association is recognized and awarded for its
United Nations (UN) affiliated efforts to understand peace and conflict. In the new
millennium, The UN developed a "Project for the Creation of a Culture of Peace" as a
way to teach people around the world how to live daily with emphasis on peace. IPRA?s
research is an integral part of meeting this goal.

Dr. Suzuki is the first of a series of speakers leading up to an unparalleled international
peace conference to be held at the University of Calgary from June 29 to July 3,

Lewis.
