David Last's tasty brand of minimal-dance-hall tunes first began to surface last year on New York label The Agriculture. He's currently supporting his Agriculture CD The Push Pull, and keeping up with a continual stream of remixes for labels like Audio.NL (Rotterdam), Staubgold (Berlin), and WaveTek (NYC). He's also at work on releases for Kompakt imprints Microcosm and Goosehound, and Philly label Unfoundsound.

An offbeat sense of humor pervades his tracks, with strange little voices, horn blasts, and brain damaged orchestral sounds popping out at the listener from all sides. His music is organic and primarily rhythm-driven, harkening back to his interest in early reggae music, hip hop, latin music, and straightahead jazz. His use of textures, rhythms or sounds from non-western music is a natural outgrowth of his location in New York City, where the entire world co-exists in the same space. The Fader magazine says of Last's music, ??like Aphex or Squarepusher back in the day.?

edIT was originally one of the four resident DJ's at the now defunkt Konkrete Jungle, Los Angeles, along with Hive, Daddy Kev, James Tai and mic rockers Busdriver, Mikah 9 and P.E.A.C.E.. They tore shit up and showed Los Angeles what the fuck was up. He was also one of the original Dublab Radio DJ's at the legendary melrose studio (pre Plug Research days). More recently his now classic "Crying Over Pros for No Reason" album on ?-Ziq's Planet-Mu imprint was released. Since the Mu record, he has remixed Daedelus for Plug Research, and is working on a new album that is nothing but straight heat.You know he'll be dropping fire on the dancefloor tonight. Sleep with one eye open. No doubt.

Last and edIT have performed all over North America, Europe, and Japan. Tonight they make a special Beat Research appearance, so be prepared to dance till... well, at least till the lights come on.
