David Koechner presents
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
He's instantly recognizable, you've seen him in a gazillion things -- yet you still might not know the man by name. He's had hilarious turns in Anchorman, The Comebacks, Thank You For Smoking, Balls Of Fury, NBC's "The Office", Extract, Talladega Nights -- and he asks that you call him David Koechner (pronounced "keck-ner"!) For tonight's pick, Dave's plucked the long-standing classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail. David says: "I first saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail at one o' clock in the morning, as a late movie on TV. I was 13 years old, babysitting for my younger siblings. I remember thinking "This is the greatest thing I have seen in my whole life. Not to overstate it, but this movie is everything to me. OK -- I overstated it." Any comedy fan worth their salt holds the film and its charming lo-fi overflow of absurdity dear to their heart -- but when's the last time you've actually watched it with open eyes, to experience anew its parade of silly sods, wild wordplay and killer rabbits? Come with us and see the filth, bloodshed and clapping coconuts for the second first time! (PLEASE NOTE: This is not a "quote-along". Please do not shout out your favorite 47,000 lines from the film as they're happening on-screen -- unless you're in the touring cast of "Spamalot", in which case it might be halfway cool.)
Dirs. Terry Jones & Terry Gilliam, 1975, 35mm, 87 min.
