A five time Grammy nominee for his extraordinary and seminal contributions to contemporary jazz, David Benoit has also embarked on a multifaceted journey into the classical music world. This has led to guest conductor spots with numerous top symphonies and philharmonics. Benoit has been performing and recording since 1977 and is credited with being a pioneer in the music genre which would become known as smooth jazz. One of the most commercially successfully pop-jazz groups of the past 30 years, Spyro Gyra combines R&B and elements of pop and Caribbean music with jazz. Their groundbreaking career includes over 25 albums and their energetic live shows.
