Seattle-area author and Elliott Bay friend Daryl Grisby, now Public Works director for the City of Kirkland, and a longtime community leader, does some talking to acknowledge the role of Black people in the struggle for justice in both the U.S. and the rest of the world. His new book, 'In Their Footsteps: Inspirational Reflections on Black History for Every Day of the Year (ACTA),' offers a full year's worth of capsule biographies of leaders and organizations both well-known (Fannie Lou Hamer, Angela Davis, Countee Cullen) and less well-known (publisher George Sutton, educator Edmonia Highgate).
